Iced Hojicha Maple Latte Recipe
A hojicha maple latte is the perfect balance of toasty, nutty Japanese roasted green tea with the natural sweetness of pure maple syrup.
Unlike matcha, hojicha is gently roasted, giving it a comforting caramel aroma and much lower caffeine — ideal for an afternoon iced latte that won't keep you up at night.

Recipe questions
Is hojicha high in caffeine?
No — roasting significantly reduces caffeine, so hojicha is much gentler than matcha or coffee and suits afternoons and evenings.
Can I have this hot instead of iced?
Yes. Whisk the hojicha with hot water the same way, then top with steamed milk and stir the maple syrup through.
Does hojicha need a bamboo whisk?
A bamboo whisk or small electric frother both work. Hojicha powder dissolves a little more easily than matcha, but sifting first still gives the smoothest result.
