Energy-Boosting Matcha Smoothie

This Energy-Boosting Matcha Smoothie is curated so every ingredient plays a role for flavour and for how it fuels you.

RYŌKA matcha brings the bright green colour and clean, vegetal depth you expect from premium Uji tea, while its natural caffeine and L-theanine combination supports calm, sustained focus without the coffee crash.

Organic protein powder adds body and a creamy finish, and helps keep you fuller for longer so this works as a proper breakfast or post-training drink. Avocado is what makes the texture silk-smooth; its healthy fats also support absorption of fat-soluble nutrients and round out the matcha’s grassy edges.

A touch of organic raw honey softens bitterness and adds gentle sweetness, with natural antioxidants as a bonus — not a sugar dump. Blend it all with milk and you get a smoothie that tastes rich and drinks like fuel.

This version is mixed strong (6–7.5 g matcha). Newer to matcha? Start around 4–5 g and work up. Recipe by wellness coach @czonwong. New to preparing matcha? Read our 5-step guide, or compare grades on the matcha comparison chart.

Recipe questions

Is 6–7.5 g of matcha a lot?

Czon likes it strong. If you’re newer to matcha or sensitive to caffeine, start with 4–5 g and increase once you know how it feels.

Can I use a different milk?

Yes. Dairy, oat, almond or soy all work. Creamier milks (whole dairy or barista oat) give a richer finish with the avocado.

Do I need to sift the matcha first?

A quick sift helps if your blender is mild, but a high-speed blender usually incorporates RYŌKA fine enough on its own.
