How to Make Layered Ice Matcha Latte

How to Make Layered Ice Matcha Latte

This layered iced matcha latte is the perfect refreshing iced tea summer drink. It is super easy to make and I’ll show you step by step how to get that layered Matcha effect.

To make this Matcha ice tea latte all you need are 3 ingredients and less than 5 minutes of your time.

Matcha Iced Latte Ingredients

  1. Matcha Green Tea Powder
  2. Honey
  3. Almond Milk, but you can use skim, cows, soy or any other milk that you like.

What I used to make this Iced Matcha Latte

1 Tsp of Matcha

Use ceremonial grade matcha to get that vibrant green effect.

Ceremonial grade Eisai Uji Matcha

Cocktail Shaker, or any flask or drink bottle with an air tight lid

3/4 Cup of Milk, can be almond milk, skim milk, soy milk or cow milk.

1/3 Cup of Cold Water

2-3 tsp of Honey or brown sugar

5 Ice Cubes from Ice Tray

1 Measuring Cup

1 Glass Cup

How to make a Layered Iced Tea

The layered ice matcha tea not only tastes great, it looks great! But there are two tricks to accomplish that look.

First, Ice. Ice makes it easier to divide the layers. Pour the drink in first, then add the Ice.

Second and most important, is sugar. The sugar content keeps the layers separated as the liquid with the most sugar will sink to the bottom.

Add 3/4 of milk to the cocktail shaker

Add 3 teaspoons of honey to the cocktail shaker containing the milk

Add honey to iced matcha latte

Shake it up vigorously for 10-15 seconds

Pour the milk and honey mix into the glass cup

Add ice to the glass cup

Give the cocktail shaker a quick rinse with cold water so we can move onto the matcha

In the clean cocktail shaker add 1/3 cup of cold filtered water

Add 1 heaped scoop of Matcha, the powdered green tea

Put the lid on the cocktail shaker and tighten. Shake the water and matcha vigorously for 10-15 seconds.

Use ceremonial matcha if you want that brighter, vibrant green result.

Slowly pour the matcha into the glass cup.

Because of the sugar content in the milk, you’ll see that the matcha (without any sugar) won’t immediately sink to the bottom. Instead you’ll see the matcha form it’s layer at the top and seperate itself from the milk.

Looks amazing doesn’t it?

Take and photo of your awesome layered achievement.

Finally stir it up, sit back, drink and enjoy.
