Why is this a ceremonial matcha and what makes Purematcha different?
Our EISAI matcha uses first flush, shaded baby young tea leaves from camellia sinensis plant. As such they have received the least amount of sunlight prior to harvest. This makes them higher in L-theanine (natural relaxant), chlorophyll (intense bright green) and caffeine, making it value for money even for those who drink it daily as a pick-me-up.
This ceremonial grade Uji matcha is hand-picked by experience tea farmers as opposed to being machine picked in lesser grade matcha powders.
Unlike other matcha teas on the market, we test our matcha independently right here in Australia to ensure that none of the bad stuff gets through
How much matcha can I drink per day?
Our Matcha contains 33.3mg of caffeine per 1 gram. This is about half the amount of a single shot of espresso.
However, matcha contains L-Theanine which is known to slow the release of caffeine in your bloodstream.
We recommend 2-3 cups per day or whenever you feel yourself needing more mental clarity, energy or focus.
If you're caffeine sensitive, then you might find that 1 cup per day is more than enough to keep you at your best.
Why is matcha so expensive
Genuine ceremonial grade Matcha like our (EISAI Purematcha) are individually hand-picked by experienced tea farmers as opposed to machines. This is a labor intensive process and it requires a skilful farmer to filter out the good leaves from the bad leaves.
Our matcha has a vibrant green hue with little to no bitterness. This is a sign of high quality as opposed to a matcha that is yellowish in colour and very bitter. Our EISAI matcha is also grown on an organic certified farm without the use of pesticides or chemicals.
It takes approximately 1 hour to grind tea leaves into 40g of matcha powder! The processing of matcha is incredibly labour intensive and this is why a good matcha comes with a price tag.
