Handcrafted Kyusu made from the infamous red clay of TOKONAME which has been fired in low oxygen to turn the clay a black colour. Inbuilt stainless steel filter prevents the tea leaves from passing through the spout.
Key benefits
This large capacity Japanese Kyusu (900ml) is great for brewing tea with family and friends.
It is handmade in Tokoname, which is one of Japan's six most important ancient kiln towns.
The special feature of Tokoname yaki is the red clay (Shudei). Clay is mixed with iron oxide without the use of glaze.
This iron results in the red colour distinct to Tokoname yaki. This Yokode Kyusu (Teapot with a side handle) has an in-built stainless steel tea strainer to prevent tea leaves from passing through the tea spout.
The weighting and balance make it a joy to use and the lid is tight-fitting to reduce leakage.
As always with clay teaware, do not use any detergents! To clean, all then you have to do is thoroughly rinse out the tea leaves and leave the teapot to dry with the lid off.
