Café-Style Iced Matcha Latte

Your favourite café matcha, made at home in under two minutes. This iced latte uses first-harvest KIYOKA and an Aerolatte battery whisk — no bamboo-whisk technique required.

Purematcha supplies premium Japanese matcha to cafés across Australia. We’ve taken what we’ve learned about making a smooth, balanced matcha latte and turned it into six simple steps you can repeat in a glass.

Start with a splash of milk, sift 2g of KIYOKA (or 3g if you like it strong), whisk, top up, and finish with ice. The Café Matcha Home Kit has everything you need, including a bamboo scoop, a free Japanese sieve and a free 20g OYAMA sample to compare.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Start with a splash of milk. Add 30ml of your milk of choice to the glass.
  2. Sift the matcha in. Measure 2g of KIYOKA into the tea sieve, or 3g if you like it strong, then use the bamboo scoop to push it through.
  3. Whisk to combine. Run the Aerolatte for 15–20 seconds until the matcha is fully combined into the milk.
  4. Top up the milk. Add another 60ml of milk.
  5. Whisk again. Another 10 seconds with the Aerolatte brings it together.
  6. Add ice and stir. Fill the glass with ice, give it a stir and it is ready.

Recipe questions

Why KIYOKA for this latte?

KIYOKA is a first-flush Saemidori ceremonial matcha with a bright green colour, floral aroma and smooth natural sweetness. It is refined enough to enjoy with water and still tastes beautifully balanced in milk.

Do I need a traditional matcha bowl?

No. A glass, cup or small jug with enough room for the Aerolatte whisk works well. This recipe is designed for people who want good matcha without a complete tea-ceremony setup.

Can the Aerolatte whisk the milk too?

In this recipe the Aerolatte whisks the matcha directly into a splash of milk. You can also froth extra milk separately — use a tall container and leave room because milk expands as it foams.

How many drinks will the Café Matcha Home Kit make?

The 50g KIYOKA pouch makes about 25 drinks at a 2g café-style serve. The free 20g OYAMA sample gives you up to 10 additional serves to taste and experiment with.
